On 7 October, AMCHAM hosted a Spotlight Session with Lyra Health on “Identifying Employees in Crisis and Guiding Them to Support”
The session provided an insightful look into how organizations can identify employees in crisis and effectively guide them to appropriate support channels. Participants learnt how modern Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) can be a cornerstone of a resilient and productive workplace, helping HR and business leaders balance employee well-being with business performance.
Alex Diong, Director of Lyra Malaysia, spoke about workplace mental health and the stigma that surrounds it. He presented statistics on mental health in Malaysia and stressed the importance of open dialogue and proactive organizational support to foster a culture of care and understanding.
Tan Lin Jia, Senior Clinical Case Manager at Lyra Health, focused on practical methods for identifying employees in crisis and how to respond. She outlined what measures HR professionals and managers can take when dealing with employees in distress, including early intervention strategies, effective communication techniques, and referral pathways to professional support.
We extend our thanks to both speakers for sharing valuable perspectives and solutions to help businesses strengthen their approach to employee well-being and build healthier, more supportive workplaces.
